Personal Digital Assistant Maintenance Application Project (PDA-MAP) is a "Proof-of-Concept"
project for NAVAIR that will replace P-3 Maintenance Requirement Cards used during an Integrated
Maintenance Concept (IMC) Inspection with a handheld version of these cards. Additionally, this
project will provide other improvements to include:
The Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB) which provides a listing of both rectified discrepancies
over the course of the last ten flights and work that has yet to be completed. PDA-MAP provides
the flight crew the ability to review this information while in the air. Presently the ADB remains
in Maintenance Control.
The ability for the Air Crew to annotate discrepancies as they occur in-flight and automatically
generate a MAF based on these discrepancies in post-flight.
The ability to generate Weight and Balance information for the Flight Crew, providing a paperless,
electronic version of flight information.
E-LCDIS
Enhanced-LCAC Corrosion Data Input System (E-LCDIS) is an application that is used to track Corrosion
Inspections for Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) Surface Ships. The application consists of a desktop
application as well as mobile handheld application for data collection.
KSAAP Survey and Inspection
ARA is conducting an Asbestos Survey, Explosive Building Assessment, and Hazardous and Special Waste
Inventory of the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant (KSAAP). KSAAP is a government-owned,
contractor-operated installation under the jurisdiction of the Joint Munitions Command and is slated
for closure as part of BRAC 2005. ARA will inspect all buildings, structures, and facilities on the
site for the presence of explosives, ACM, and other hazardous materials to support transfer and provide
recommendations.
KSAAP Site Closures
USACE Kansas City District
awarded a contract to ARA to get site closure at three locations at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. The areas
covered are an Explosive Waste Incinerator, Burn Pads 5 and 6, and a Pistol Range. The project
includes geophysical surveys, MEC clearance, Building Decontamination and Demolition, and soil sampling and remediation.
ROUMRS Demonstration Project
Remotely Operated Underwater Munitions Recovery System (ROUMRS): The US Army has awarded a contract to ARA,
Inc. to recover military munitions to a depth of about 120' from Ordnance Reef,
Waianae, Hawaii using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The field operations will likely occur during the
summer/fall period of 2010.
Open Detonation Area Survey
USACE Kansas City District awarded a contract to ARA to perform the geophysical survey and subsurface soil
investigation of the Open Detonation Area at KSAAP.
Valve and Flex Hose Maintenance Project
This program will identify all valves and flex hoses onboard a ship and provide a mobile application to
increase accuracy and decrease man-hours during the inspection. The program will have the inspectors
record their data directly into a mobile device onboard the ship, eliminating the need for data entry
after the inspection. The data entry will be eliminated by downloading inspection results to a desktop
terminal after the inspection.
